Supported by The Guardian, this exhibition will feature team and private memorabilia from our football history in a celebration of the Swan Hill region’s sporting and cultural past. The display will include photos, team memorabilia, newspaper stories, footy records, trophies, match footballs, books, old jerseys/team jackets, club histories and more.

The torchlight historical cemetery tour is a new and highly anticipated addition to our 2011 Pioneers Week festivities and will be a key aspect in celebrating the past of the region.
Learn about the history of the cemetery and marvel at the narration of the very knowledgeable Shirley and Jan from the historical society.
The Swan Hill Cemetery is important to the history of our region so join your educated guides for a tour that is intelligent, informed and interesting.

Join in the fun during the Pioneers Week celebrations and race against the famous PS Pyap in the Beat the Boat Fun Run.
Test your fitness along the picturesque track or simply enjoy a gentle riverside scenic walk from the historic Murray Downs wharf to the Pioneer Settlement.
Participants will have the opportunity to race along a 4.3 km or a 6.3 km course from the wharf back to the Pioneer Settlement, with the challenge to beat the Pyap as it makes its way down the river.

Join in the bustling lives of our Mallee pioneers and step back in time to witness some of the forgotten skills of yesteryear with the Rare Trades and Skills Day at the Pioneer Settlement.
Try your hand at rope making and butter churning, wood turning or horse harnessing, printing, spinning and quilting. There will also be a steam workshop and so much more – make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to be part of what is certain to be a great family day out.

Get set for a great day’s racing as the Swan Hill Jockey Club hosts Pioneers in Racing as part of the entertainment for this year’s Pioneers Week.
The day out will allow for an old fashioned day at the racing track. The members’ room will be open to all guests and on course catering and bar facilities will be available while you can also have a little flutter with full TAB facilities. Make sure you get along and cheer home a winner for what is certain to be a great day out!

The return of the State schools Extravaganza is an opportunity to support our bright stars of the future when all the dance, drama and music takes place at the Swan Hill Town Hall PACC as part of this year’s Pioneers Week festival.
Schools throughout the Swan Hill region are gearing up for what will be an exciting and entertaining couple of evenings when the State Schools Extravaganza takes place on the 9 and 10 August. Schools participating this year include; Woorinen District, Nyah District, Beverford District, Ultima, Piangil, Swan Hill North, Swan Hill Primary, Swan Hill Specialist, Swan Hill College and Lake Boga.
This event will be a spectacular celebration of the talent we have in the region and is an event that is ran by the kids, about the kids and for the kids!

A special Story Time will be held at the Swan Hill Regional Library in conjunction with this year’s Pioneers Week, with special guest reader Swan Hill Rural City Council Mayor Cr Greg Cruickshank.
The session is aimed at children aged three to six years, however all children are welcome to attend.
There will also be a special craft activity following on from the Pioneers Week-themed story.
